Project Overview GRACE is a project funded by the European Community under the Information Society Technology Programme (1998-2002). GRACE is project "IST-2001-38100" in the IST 2002 Framework 5, under CPA9: "Grid technologies and their applications". The project began on September 2002 and will end on February 2005. The project is led by Telecom Italia Lab. The other project partners are: CERN, GL2006Europe, Sheffield Hallam University, Stockholm University, Stuttgart University Library. GRACE Project proposes the development of a distributed search and categorization engine that will enable just in time, flexible allocation of data and computational resources. GRACE decentralized search and categorization engine is built on Grid technology and operates without a central database. Instead it indexes documents locally in each Grid node using whatever computational resources are available in the immediate vicinity of the storage vicinity. The resulting index is also stored locally and allows procesing of queries on demand from any other node in the Grid. |
